New Andrei Kirilenko

Andrei Kirilenko Gets Horrifying Back Tattoo, But We're Not Really Sure Of What?

He has the greatest nickname in the NBA but his back tattoo--not so much. Utah Jazz forward Andrei Kirilenko, aka "AK-47," recently got the tattoo you're looking at above (another after the jump). Together with Denver Nuggets forward Chris "Birdman" Anderson, they have the most interesting tattoos in the league, which is a polite way of saying that their tattoos are really weird. But to each his own.

Now, what the heck is that on Kirilenko's backside? First of all, it's horrifying. The main figure is obviously a winged creature with talons, but I'm thrown off by the hairy face. Maybe this reptile or dragon is the result of a horrible chemical accident, similar to how the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles became empowered. It also appears like there's an armored medieval solder riding this beast. Let's call the beast Gary the Friendly Gryphon, because why not? So this warrior dude is riding Gary off to war somewhere, sometime around 1348 A.D. I think that settles it.
