Luke Harangody Impresses in Orlando Summer League

While people were mainly focusing on how the top picks performed in Summer League action, Luke Harangody surprised many with his impressive play. Harangody, the 52nd pick of the draft, averaged 16.6 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 1.6 assists. He shot well from the field and showed his 3-point range.

Harangody is joining a veteran laden Celtics team, but he could find his way into the rotation. What plays into his favor at this point is that Kendrick Perkins will likely miss the beginning of the new season. That will move Jermaine O'Neal into the starting line up and should free up playing time for Harangody. While Big Baby should be the first big off the bench, I can see Luke playing alongside him and filling a role similar to that of the retiring Rasheed Wallace last year. If Harangody plays well during this stint, he could become a fixture in the rotation.

Harangody is an interesting prospect at the end of a deep league draft. In the latter stages of the draft, you're looking for that diamond in the rough. While Harangody isn't going into a great situation for a rookie, he may still get an opportunity to make contributions with Boston.
